Originally recorded for A&M records Stephen was signed through famed UK Dj then A&R man for A&M Jeff Young - Jeff would transfer to a new position at A&M and as part of his deal and migrate his signing with him over to MCA - In those times the A&R departments were distinctly segregated - Upon completion of the album the album was deemed "too black" sounding for the white department and being Harvey was a "white guy" there was no place for him amongst the black artists of MCA which were at the time focused on the likes of R Kelly / Teddy Riley etc. This left the album in a state of limbo, in what was known at the time as "being shelved" unable to move forward or be allowed a release from MCA , The album went into the vault to collect dust for approximately 30 years until 2023 when the masters were finally released back to the artist.

The album featured a legendary cast of musicians and singers : Sandra St.Victor from the group "The Family Stand" was a co-writer and produced Steve's vocals on the tracks on a bulk of the album as well as performing background vocals - Tony Maiden from Rufus played guitar on several cut's / Doc Powell from Luther Vandross's band also played guitar / Ready Steady Freddie Washinton & Byron Miller both played bass / Kirk Whalum - other contributors were : Bridgette Bryant - background vocals / Portia Griffith & Kedison Kai Background vocals / Valerie Bailey Background vocals and many others - Rene Geyer and Gary Brown were co writers and also sang BV's on their respective tracks. Sly Stone attended the session on the song "LIES" and said to SLH ... "That's some funky shit" which made the entire album a worthwhile venture in Steve's eyes regardless of the fact upon completion the album was shelved for many moons. It is also worth noting the record was so well financed between both labels it afforded the building of SCOTLAND YARD STUDIOS 1&2 n Hollywood (Sunset Boul next door to the Gutar center) where the entire record was recorded - Mark Hermann was the Engineer on the project.
